The Isle of Man has a long history of creativity through language and traditional crafts and has a thriving art and music scene. Looking to the future, the Island strives to create and take opportunities for commercial growth and drive innovation in media and the arts, growing an industrial base of television production, video game design, rights trading and marketing.
Several music and art festivals underline the prospering scene of actors, singers, dancers, fashion designers, painters, filmmakers, poets and writers.
For more than 30 years now the Isle of Man has been home for international sports TV productions and general video distribution. Since 1995 a strong film production heritage has been built up with over 100 feature films and TV dramas have been co-financed and co-produced, all of which have been filmed on-Island.
In 2016, the Isle of Media, a not-for-profit public private partnership was launched to globally market the Island’s thriving video related media cluster. Senior executives of the media and broadcast industry provide support for investors and entrepreneurs interested in setting up operations in the Isle of Man. Drones, 4k and 360° cameras, sound studios, video edit suites…, the Island has a comprehensive ecosystem in video production which seamlessly blends into animation, corporate video, advertising, marketing, design and publishing which also comes under the Creative Industries banner.
The Isle of Man Arts Council provides support for local talent.
MannIN Shorts is a film training scheme to provide a platform for hopeful filmmakers of any age to build their skills, develop their ideas and make films right here on the Island.
Parker and Snell offer both adult and children’s classes and workshops in acting for television, film and theatre. Being a long established filming hub, the Isle of Man residents show great passion to participle in film shootings.
A multi-million fund is available for investments in the development of all types of video content for TV, film or gaming. With a variety of funding options, the fund’s focus is on attracting sustainable job creation.
Our governmental support schemes for businesses are flexible and can fuel your growth; from sole traders through to large employers. A range of support is on offer, including a free-of-charge, five-day training course to help budding entrepreneurs consider their business idea and gain valuable skills in setting up and running a business.
